The redevelopment of the former Firestone factory site on Great West Road represented a significant opportunity for Legal & General, combining the site's historic importance with the potential to deliver new employment opportunities in Brentford.

A collaborative approach to engagement

Recognising the importance of local voices, a multi-layered engagement strategy was developed involving political stakeholders, community groups and the wider public. Consultation was supported through targeted communications, public engagement events and an interactive project website.

Shaping the scheme through consultation

Our Strategic Communications team established positive relationships with local ward councillors and resident organisations, leading to productive discussions and design refinements. Feedback gathered through the consultation process helped inform improvements, particularly relating to site access and wider community engagement.

Securing support through meaningful dialogue

By fostering constructive relationships with stakeholders and ensuring the community had opportunities to influence the proposals, we helped support the successful progression of a scheme that received planning permission in June 2022.
