Housing Monitoring Reports: a snapshot of current planning policy position across North West England
Our Northern Planning team consistently monitors the activities of local planning authorities across the North West to identify opportunities for clients.
Our North West of England Housing Monitoring Report provides a summary of the planning policy position for the local authorities in the counties of Cheshire and Lancashire, as well as the metropolitan conurbations of Greater Manchester and Merseyside. At present, it does not include the newly created unitary authority of Cumberland, which includes the previous district authorities of Allerdale, Carlisle and Copeland. Cumberland will be producing its own local plan, but given the infancy of the authority, limited work has taken place at present. Future updates of the Housing Monitoring Report will contain a summary of the planning policy position for Cumberland once the authority has made progress on its local plan.
The monitoring report also includes the region’s two combined authorities: Liverpool Combined City Region Authority and Greater Manchester Combined Authority, which have strategic planning roles and are preparing combined spatial frameworks / plans.
The monitoring report provides information on:
- Adopted development plan documents
- Upcoming / anticipated consultation on emerging planning policy documents
- Adopted housing requirements
- Five year housing land supply positions
- Standard housing methodology requirements
- Housing Delivery Test results
The monitoring report is updated periodically as new information is received and the latest version is available to download below.
