Turley helps secure green light for new high-tech engineering facilities in Miskin, South Wales

Acting on behalf of Renishaw, we have helped secure detailed planning permission for the development of new buildings and associated infrastructure to support future growth at the company’s Miskin site in South Wales.

We provided expert Planning services for the development which was approved by Vale of Glamorgan Council on 25 May 2021.

The new buildings, which will include two new production halls, an employee amenity area and car parking, will provide Renishaw with a further 33,909 sq m of employment floorspace (Class B1, B2 and B8) to add to its current 43,000 sq m facility used for machining, assembly and machine production.

The development represents the first phase of the wider redevelopment of Renishaw’s land at Miskin.

The site is in an excellent strategic location, situated just off the M4, and in close proximity to Cardiff.

Huw Jones, Head of Planning Wales said:

“We are delighted to have helped Renishaw secure this important permission which will allow the company to expand its South Wales operation. We worked closely with officers at the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Natural Resources Wales to ensure that Renishaw’s aspirations are delivered. The scheme has the potential to create a significant number of new high skilled jobs in the local area, with numerous positive spin-off benefits for the local economy.”
