Turley achieves Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation accreditation
We have demonstrated our commitment to The Carbon Literacy Project by becoming a bronze-accredited organisation.
The Carbon Literacy Project (CLP) is based on the principle that if we are to cut our carbon emissions by the kind of reductions demanded of us by science, then we will need to change culture alongside technology.
Carbon Literacy is crucial for increasing knowledge around climate change to catalyse action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In this decade of action, we are committed to making information around cutting carbon emissions accessible and empowering our co-owners to take action. Our path to Carbon Literacy began with us having access to bespoke Carbon Literacy training accredited by the CLP, alongside Senior Director, Chrysta Poppitt becoming certified as Carbon Literate. Our Head of ESG, Snigdha Jain is also Carbon Literate certified.
And this is just the start, we are aiming to achieve ‘Silver’ accreditation in 2024 by rolling out training to more co-owners across the business, promoting Carbon Literacy through our website and social media channels and integrating it within our performance management and assessment systems. Becoming Carbon Literate is part of our commitment to facing the climate emergency head on as an organisation. We have also been certified as a CarbonNeutral® company since 2018 and are in the process of submitting our near-term targets.
Chrysta Poppitt, Senior Director had this to say:
“I feel a personal sense of accountability to make a change both as an individual and within Turley, for the benefit of our co-owners. We want to walk the talk, and have rolled out the Carbon Literacy training to our entire Leadership Team and our Beyond Carbon Neutral Group members, who are our very own ‘Climate Avengers’!”
Our Carbon Literacy training offer
Alongside our own Carbon Literacy journey, we are committed to helping other organisations within the entire value chain of real estate understand their impact too. As part of our specialist Sustainability and ESG service, we can develop a bespoke Carbon Literacy training course for any organisation to create a positive shift in response to the climate crisis.
Carbon Literacy training requires a day’s commitment, and covers the science behind climate change, carbon footprints and provides a solid foundation of knowledge on the carbon costs of everyday activities.
Carbon Literacy training empowers action to reduce personal and business impact on the environment. It is a tangible way for a company to demonstrate its commitment to the climate emergency by supporting people to minimise their own (as well as business) carbon emissions/footprint. Carbon Literacy also contributes to staff well-being, efficiency, and competitiveness, but above all else helps us all play our collective role in tackling climate change.
Snigdha Jain, Head of ESG added:
“Carbon Literacy training truly has the potential to create worldwide transformation, and is globally unique, hence it was awarded as a TAP100[1] by the UN at COP21 in Paris. We develop and tailor courses for businesses across the entire value chain of real estate, from investors and lenders, financial institutions, developers and asset managers, engineering and construction companies, all the way through to owner occupiers and tenants. Empowering businesses to accelerate their journey to Net Zero was one of my pledges!”
