Expert advice to the University of Manchester’s £1 bn estates strategy to 2020
Our role
- University of Manchester is investing £1 bn as part of a major capital works programme to create a single city centre campus.
- Our Sustainability team has been appointed to a dedicated expert panel of sustainability advisors to support the university’s capital works programme and help achieve its sustainability objectives.
- Supporting the capital works delivery team, individual project design teams and the university’s internal sustainability managers to enable the delivery of a world class university campus.
- Our role spans all stages of the development process from initial design brief and concept design through to post construction occupation.
Results
- Facilitating a number of sustainability workshops with individual project teams, internal and external stakeholders to define sustainability priorities and objectives as well as inform.
- Many of the capital works projects will take many years to complete and our approach will continually evolve and adapt to emerging best practice, knowledge sharing and innovation.
- The application of the University’s Sustainability Tracker to ensure each building maximises its sustainability performance whilst responding to project specific constraints.
