Our role
- Working closely with our client and the design team, we provided specialist heritage advice and assessment to support the re-use and adaptation of the large grade II listed mill complex on Wakefield Waterfront.
- As well as Heritage advice we also provided Planning and Economics services for the new creative community in Wakefield, West Yorkshire , which includes a recording studios, content spaces, offices, event venues and hospitality.
- Vacant and deteriorating for a number of years we supported a full planning application and associated application for listed building consent for the partial demolition, repair, alteration and change of use of existing buildings.
Results
- Application was approved in 2019 and we have subsequently been providing heritage advice on implementation of the development, including integration of a number of new uses and associated landscaping.
- When regeneration is complete, Tileyard North will be the UK’s largest creative community outside of London; a mixed-use, creative and cultural cluster with state-of-the-art facilities.
