Aspirational vision for the future of the campus
Our role
- We helped Aston to create a vision for the campus to complement the spatial development of the Knowledge Quarter, the city and the wider region.
- Led a series of internal workshops to establish the varied needs of the three key beneficiaries; the students, local businesses, Birmginham and the wider region; including a session during the company away day to communicate the vision to key staff members.
- We liaised with BCC to communicate the vision and campus masterplan and provided creative and innovative ideas to unlock the potential of the campus.
- We established a development framework within which the next campus building will be delivered for the Business School and Languages/Social Sciences.
- The masterplan responds to the evolving context adjacent to the campus, and clearly illustrates the campuses critical role in the success of the city, alongside facilitating and improving connectivity though and to the wider city.
- Sustainable connections alongside landscape and public realm improvements ensure the campus contributes significantly to the city’s Route to Zero (R20) project to become net zero carbon by 2030.
Results
- The masterplan vision has unlocked the potential of the campus, aligned the development with the wider BCC vision and provided a location for the new ABS/LSS building.
