Turley secures approval for new logistics development in Trafford Park, Manchester

We provided expert Planning services to GLP Europe on what will be the company’s first logistics scheme in Greater Manchester. Approved by Trafford Council last week, the new G-Park Manchester Trafford Park will provide 216,000 sq ft of prime space for industrial and logistics use.

The planning permission includes the demolition of the nine-acre former Tenmat factory site to provide a new fit-for-purpose industrial unit which includes a service yard, car parking, and 19,000 sq ft of office and meeting space.

The unit will allow for the simultaneous loading or unloading of up to 25 HGVs and the car park will include electric vehicle charging points and secure cycle storage facilities.

G-Park Manchester Trafford Park will achieve a 45% reduction in carbon emissions through its measures to reduce energy demand for the site and incorporate renewable technologies.

Green infrastructure will be a key feature of the site, with new planting around every boundary which will deliver an increase of over 18% in biodiversity and 100% in hedgerow units, providing a significant ecological benefit.

G-Park, Manchester

Trafford Park is the premier industrial estate in the North West, covering approximately 1,940 acres and employing over 35,000 people, and is home to over 1,300 businesses including Amazon, Adidas, Unilever and DHL. The park has excellent connectivity by road, rail and air, strategically located within five miles of Manchester city centre and benefitting from good access to the national motorways network, Metrolink tram and light railway system, and Manchester Airport.

Senior Planner, Steven Healey said:

G-Park Manchester Trafford Park will generate over 200 new jobs for the region and play a vital role in the helping to meet the unparalleled demand for logistics floorspace across the North West.

In addition to the building’s sustainability benefits, the location of the site promotes sustainable modes of transport with its accessibility to local transport networks and EV charging infrastructure. We look forward to seeing this development progress.

Adrienne Howells, Senior Development Director at GLP Europe, said:

Achieving planning consent for G-Park Manchester Trafford Park is an important milestone in our redevelopment of the project and we thank the team at Turley for their support.
