Turley secures approval for Vastint UK’s regeneration plans for The Embankment Site, Cardiff
Acting on behalf of Vastint UK, Turley has secured a recommendation for approval from Cardiff Council’s Planning Committee for a new, mixed-use, urban district.
Vastint UK’s outline plans for The Embankment Site will see 47 acres of underutilised brownfield land to the south of the city revitalised, providing 2,500 homes alongside 54,000 sq m of business space and opportunities for leisure, hospitality and retail.
We provided expert Planning, Strategic Communications, EIA and Economics services for the proposals, which will open up the riverside with a new park and green spaces providing pedestrian and cycle links. The redevelopment will enhance connectivity between the communities of Butetown and Grangetown, the city centre and Cardiff Bay.
Stephen Lindley, Managing Director, Vastint UK said:
“We are thrilled that Cardiff Council has given its support for this ambitious, mixed-use development. The Embankment Site will bring much-needed homes, businesses, and amenities to the City, revitalising the area and creating a vibrant, new community.
“Following today’s decision, we look forward to progressing the details of the development, continuing to work closely with the Council, local community groups and key stakeholders.”
The masterplan was developed with the support of Supervene Architects, 3D Reid, Planit and Stantec.
