Planning approved for Birmingham’s tallest building
Acting on behalf of Euro Property Investments Limited, Turley has secured approval for 100 Broad Street, a 61 storey luxury residential development set to be Birmingham’s tallest building.
We provided expert Planning services for the landmark tall building which was approved (subject to S106 Agreement) by Birmingham City Council’s Planning Committee on 16 January 2020. Once complete, the scheme will provide 503 one and two bedroom apartments set over 55 storeys of residential floorspace, combined with resident amenity space including a gym, cinema, games room and co-working spaces. The remaining floors will provide commercial and retail space, with two units at ground floor level. The development also includes a two storey pavilion building.
Alongside creating a vibrant residential community in the city centre, the scheme will bring numerous benefits to Birmingham including providing a gateway development to the city centre on an underutilised site, providing a broad range of apartment types to meet varied housing needs, and enhancing the vibrancy and level of activity along Broad Street through the provision of additional active frontages. The redevelopment of the brownfield site is in line with policy set out in the Birmingham Development Plan and will stimulate wider regeneration opportunities within the area.
During construction, 100 Broad Street will create a number of jobs whilst providing the potential to capture additional household retail and leisure expenditure within the city centre every year. The scheme is set to make a significant financial contribution to the city’s infrastructure fund and will also deliver affordable housing on-site. Construction is expected to commence in 2021 and be completed by 2024.
The development is designed by Glancy Nicholls Architects.
