Turley confirmed as part of partnership team for Camden Film Quarter development
Yoo Capital has appointed several expert partners, including Turley’s Strategic Communications team, to help realise its vision for Camden Film Quarter as a world-class destination for film, television and digital content.
Yoo Capital, the real estate investment firm known for transformational mixed-use developments has announced the appointment of five expert partners to the Camden Film Quarter project.
Announced in April 2023, Camden film quarter will be the product of Yoo Capital’s vision to create an entirely new creative neighbourhood, delivering a hub for film, creative industries, education and providing hundreds of new homes and thousands of jobs. Working with Camden Council, and consulting with local residents, businesses and community groups at every stage of the project, Yoo Capital’s vision is to build on the success of the British creative industries by providing vital space for the sector to grow in central London and by attracting global creative talent to the capital.
To ensure the masterplan vision delivered matches the scale and ambition required to compete on the international stage and deliver for the local area, every partner has been carefully selected based on their experience of large scale projects and ability to demonstrate that destinations can be shaped to allow community, culture, sustainability and commercial viability to coexist.
Community Collaboration and Consultation
Ensuring the needs and views of the local community are reflected throughout the planning process we have been appointed to work with Yoo Capital on the community consultation for Camden Film Quarter. Having already begun early conversations in the community, we will continue to facilitate future opportunities for the community to stay informed and have their say through drop-in events, workshops, 1-2-1 conversations, digital surveys and much more.
Nick Jones, Senior Director said:
“Our Strategic Communications team focuses on people and their influence on planning, placemaking and the built environment, and we are delighted to be working with Yoo Capital on the innovative Camden Film Quarter, which will bring enormous positive impact and social value to communities in North London. In order to maximise this impact, we will be facilitating inclusive, accessible, two-way engagement across the local community at every step of the project – making sure that the priorities and ideas of the community are front-and-centre of the evolution of Camden Film Quarter.”
Creating a Functional Masterplan Vision
Appointed to lead the masterplanning vision designs, SPPARC - the London-based architecture studio responsible for projects including the co-design of Yoo Capital’s £1.3bn transformation of Olympia and Southwark’s Borough Yards - will create an initial design that seamlessly integrates this new creative district into the fabric of Kentish Town.
With a commitment to opening the site and creating connectivity to the surrounding areas, Yoo Capital are working closely with Momentum, an integrated transport consultancy who collaborate with clients and partners to create forward-looking transport solutions that address the needs of the future city. With an aim for communities to benefit from their strategies and recommendations, people and their communities are always at the centre of Momentum’s work.
Acknowledging the transport sector as the biggest contributor of carbon emissions in the United Kingdom, Momentum are also passionate in their approach to sustainability and the creation of healthier places for communities - recognising that the traditional “business as usual” approach to transport planning is inadequate in the context of the climate change emergency facing the modern world.
Planning and development consultancy Montagu Evans is delivering expertise to Camden Film Quarter as planning, heritage and townscape consultants for the project. Drawing upon extensive experience of complex and large-scale developments in Central London, its activity will focus on ensuring the plans are delivered whilst respecting the existing built environment of Camden and Kentish Town and the communities they serve.
Cutting Edge Film Studio Advisory
With decades of experience in the film industry and relationships across the major production houses, the UK industry leaders, Oxygen Studios, have been appointed to consult on planning and the delivery of the Camden Film Quarter studio strategy.
Behind the success of both Longcross Studios and Arborfield Studios, with 95 credited production titles, Oxygen Studios provides the expertise required to ensure Camden Film Quarter will serve the future of film and TV in the UK.
Lloyd Lee, Managing Partner, Yoo Capital, said:
“Since the founding of our firm nearly 15 years and £2.5 billion of investments ago, we have built our reputation on working with world-class partners to bring forward visionary investments that balance fiscal responsibility with social responsibility.
We are very proud to be working closely with each of the partners appointed for this project, and their extraordinarily talented teams. We are excited to see Camden Film Quarter start to take shape as we engage with local residents and stakeholders.”
