A Creative Content Hub is coming to Digbeth
Acting on behalf of Oval Real Estate, we have secured full planning permission for an £18m Creative Content Hub at The Bond in Digbeth, Birmingham.
We provided Planning and Heritage & Townscape services for the scheme and will support the delivery of the hub with work to commence on site this year.
The hub will provide flexible workspace and event space for independent TV production and creative content developers in film, gaming and virtual production. It offers a fantastic opportunity for Birmingham’s creative talent to come together under one roof.
This distinct creative and cultural offer, in a unique former industrial building complex, will provide ample space for small to medium scale start-ups; and the creation of new and improved public realm will offer a place to work, socialise and enjoy the Grand Union Canal in an urban setting.
The permission marks a significant step in the making of a world class creative and cultural cluster in Birmingham, and is an important aspect of the city’s economic recovery via job creation for students, graduates and established creative specialists.
The Creative Content Hub represents a great example of a collaborative approach between the public and private sector to unlock this significant opportunity. Oval Real Estate worked in partnership with Create Central, the GBSLEP and West Midlands Growth Company to unlock funding to kick-start creative led growth in this part of Birmingham.
