City council gives green light for major hospital transformation project

Working with and on behalf of Manchester City Council, Manchester Health and Care Commissioning and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, a multi-service Turley team has helped secure Manchester City Council Executive endorsement for the North Manchester Health Campus Strategic Regeneration Framework (SRF).

We provided Planning, Strategic Communications, EIA and Heritage & Townscape services for the project.

The SRF provides a blueprint for the regeneration of the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) site and sets out a vision to deliver a sustainable health campus at the heart of the North Manchester community. Alongside connected health and social care facilities, the vision provides high quality new homes, green travel options, education and training opportunities, and more inviting and accessible public open spaces.

The redevelopment programme will also bring wider benefits for the local community: creating new jobs, promoting healthy lifestyles, developing skills and contributing to a zero-carbon environment for the benefit of local neighbourhoods and the wider city.

The NMGH redevelopment is one of eight hospital rebuilding projects identified to receive funding under the Government’s New Hospitals Programme for England. A full business case for the wider site regeneration will now be prepared and submitted to HM Treasury for approval later this year.
