Turley - Just right for you for opening opportunities to diverse future talent
Internship schemes provide co-owners with the opportunity to help younger generations gain valuable and rewarding work experience in the built environment industry.
This year Turley has partnered with 10,000 Black Interns and Career Ready, charities who aim to provide excellent opportunities to young people and support social mobility for those from diverse backgrounds. This summer we provided paid internships to young people through these charities and co-owners are mentoring 16-18 year olds through Career Ready.
These opportunities provide valuable work experience to young people in a fair and inclusive way.
“My time at Turley has provided me with a greater insight into the realm of Urban Design and has extended my understanding of the built environment. I can truly say I have been fortunate enough to shadow the best in the field. I have gained an appreciation for what a strong team dynamic is like.”

“Overall, I am very pleased with the experience I gained and the skills that I have improved. A highlight of my experience was attending a meeting with my supervisor at a site near Westminster, this was a highlight because I got to see behind the scenes of a project. This experience will definitely be something that I shall mention in my personal statement when applying to university.”

Co-owners who have supervised the interns or mentored young people through these charities have shared positive feedback about having the opportunity to get hands-on experience of supporting younger generations. They have also gained a new perspective on young people entering the workplace.
Supervising our Career Ready intern within the London Planning Team this summer provided a great opportunity to introduce a young person at the start of their employment life to town planning and the diverse built environment professions not usually promoted at school leaver level. We able to provide an immersive experience for our intern into the evolving post-pandemic workplace, gathering valuable intel into the needs and expectations of young people set to enter the workforce.
