Planning application submitted for residential development at The Metalworks, Liverpool
On behalf of Jarron Investments, Turley has submitted a planning application for a high-quality, mixed residential scheme to breathe new life into The Metalworks site on Freemasons Row in Liverpool City Centre.
Designed by Falconer Chester Hall architects, the proposals for the currently vacant brownfield site include 405 residential units comprising a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bed apartments and townhouses, alongside a ground floor commercial unit. We are providing expert Planning, Heritage and Townscape, Economics, Sustainability and ESG and Strategic Communications services for the development of the site, which has been identified as a priority by Liverpool City Council after a previous scheme for the site stalled. The proposed development will support the ongoing regeneration of the northern gateway to the city centre and contribute to the significant need for new homes in the centre whilst enhancing the surrounding area with urban greening and tree planting.
Jarron Investments worked with Liverpool City Council through the pre-application process in designing a high-quality scheme which will do justice to the site’s prominent location.
Speaking about the submission, Andrew Bickerdike, Head of Planning North said:
“Jarron Investments has designed a scheme which will meet the pressing need for additional residential properties in the city centre. The scheme proposes a diverse range of properties to enable the development to support a mixed community. This part of the city centre offers significant regeneration potential, being well located in relation to both the core of the city centre and Liverpool Waterfront.”
Will Clarke, Development Director at Jarron Investments said:
“The submission of our application for The Metalworks scheme is a major milestone in delivering this ground-breaking residential project. We are proud to be able to contribute to the success and vibrancy of Liverpool City Centre as a residential location of choice, and to play our part in its regeneration through investment in this prominent and sustainably located site.”
Alongside Turley and Falconer Chester Hall the project team includes Harley Haddow as MEP engineer, Edge Consulting as structural & civils engineer, Layer Studio as landscape architect, ALT fire, Curtins transport planning, Proximity day/sunlight, E3P geotechnical and GIA wind.
