Successfully contested several reasons for refusal at Public Inquiry on design grounds for a residential-led hybrid planning application
Following the refusal of planning permission for a 544-home development, we worked closely with the client and project architect to prepare a robust case addressing the five design-related reasons for refusal, helping to demonstrate the scheme's design quality and compliance with planning policy.
Stages of appeal
Assessed the five design-related reasons for refusal and identified the key design issues requiring further evidence.
Undertook a detailed Building for a Healthy Life (BHL) assessment to evaluate the scheme against recognised design quality principles and identify opportunities for improvement.
Worked closely with the project architects to refine the layout, street hierarchy and street scenes, making positive changes in response to the concerns raised by the local authority.
Used the findings of the BHL assessment and design review to prepare a comprehensive design case and Proof of Evidence.
Acted as Expert Witness at the Public Inquiry, presenting and defending the design evidence on behalf of the client.
