Co-owners flourish in Birmingham

We were pleased to announce 13 promotions in December across our network of offices, three of which were in Birmingham - Rosie Cotterill, Diane Bowers and Charlotte Palmer.

In the same year we were delighted to welcome four new co-owners to our Birmingham team and we are continuing to grow in line with impressive business performance. See our current opportunities here.

We spoke with Rosie and Charlotte to find out more about their personal experience of working at Turley.

Rosie Cotterill, Associate Director

Rosie joined us in 2014 as an Assistant Planner and has continually progressed, now taking on the role of Associate Director. She has worked on a number of complex and challenging projects which she is very proud of:

“The great thing about Turley is you are encouraged to be honest about the type of work you want to be involved in and your role is shaped around your preferences and skills.”

Speaking about Turley’s approach to flexibility and our employee-ownership model, Rosie said:

“The freedoms provided by Freedom to Flourish [our company business strategy] have allowed me to use flexibilities to train for a marathon and visit friends and family across the country. The idea is simple; you as a co-owner are responsible for ensuring your work is done, you shouldn’t feel constrained in how you achieve that by being in a set place for set hours each day.”

"Working for a co-owned business gives you a real sense of pride and responsibility. When you work on something you strive to ensure that it is of the highest quality as the outcome reflects the company; a company which you essentially own."

Charlotte Palmer, Senior Planner

Charlotte joined Turley as an Assistant Planner in 2014 and has since progressed to Senior Planner.

Charlotte told us she has recognised a noticeable confidence boost from the training she has received, adding:

“The Assistant Planner Development Programme, Assessment of Professional Competence, and general mentoring programmes and line manager support, have ensured that I have been supported through every step of my career. I have been able to progress at the pace I wanted to with the right amount of freedom to test my limits and my growing knowledge."

Charlotte is also proud to be involved with our Embrace network which champions diversity and inclusion across our business.
